Peggy Cook Hoag

Notes Then Now
The week after taking my last final on February 1, 1961, Edward Hallack Hoag III and I were married. (His car insurance was due and it was much cheaper if he was married!) We made our home in Los Angeles until the Berlin Wall was built. He joined the Air Force and we were stationed in Belleville, Illinois for four years. We had our first son Jeffery there and I worked in St. Louis. I watched the Arch being built as I crossed the Mississippi River every day going to work.
We returned to California in 1965 settling in Orange County where Ed went to work for Security Pacific National Bank. We had our second son Gregory the next year. After ten years I went back to work for the Irvine Unified School District. Jeff went to UCLA for a couple of years before joining the Army. Greg went to OU for a couple of years in the mid 80s but came back and graduated from Cal State Long Beach the same year Jeff graduated from UC Irvine. Greg worked for Disneyland while in school and continued on for a few years afterwards. Jeff got reacquainted with the daughter of some old school friends and they married in 1988. They now line in the Houston area and have two boys – Matthew 18-1/2 and Luke 17. Matthew is going to Concordia in Austin.
When we retired in 1994 we came back to Oklahoma and settled in Edmond. Greg came back with us but soon found a great job in Dallas. He met the perfect young lady through a dating agency (her parents are OU grads!) and they have been married going on eight years and have Colin, 4-1/2, and Caroline, 3.
Since retiring we have traveled a lot. On a trip to Ireland in 2000, Sharon Sabo Bozalis and her husband were on the tour. I have stayed close friends with Barbara Ramey Wiseman over the years. We went to Germany in 1976 to visit her and her husband Eddie. Last summer I met Jeanne Savage Lindsay at the 50th anniversary party of some college friends and it was like we had just seen each other the week before. It was fantastic! Next year we will celebrate 50 years of marriage and I have been promised a trip back to Scotland – my favorite place!
