Notes Then Now
It’s good to be touch with our ‘mature’ sisters. I see Patsy Rose Tyler and Dorothy Lansden Dinkel occasionally here in Colorado. And I’m active in Church, Alpha Chi, and Woman’s Club.
My husband, Bob, has a lot of chronic back pain and does physical therapy twice a week on pressure points on his back and hips. It hasn’t kept us from traveling, however. We were in Sacramento during the last holiday season visiting our son Jeff and his family. Jeff is a Presbyterian minister, so Christmas is always a busy season. However, this year was particularly exciting as Jeff, his wife, and Isaabel (11) and Noel (9) had just finished expanding their family by adopting two Ethiopian children. The new family members are 5 and 7 and had never celebrated Christmas.
I’ve been on a few other memorable trips, too. Kenya and Tanzania provided a bumpy ride, wonderful animals, and over 600 pictures. My sister, Maxine, lives in Virginia and last October we did a ‘sister trip’ along the Atlantic Seaboard, stopping in Charleston and Savannah and circling through the Outer Banks. And Bob and I are signed up for a river boat cruise this summer.
We now have 16 grandchildren ranging in age from college to kindergarten. With our family spread out, we always have somewhere to visit. For hobbies, I still enjoy working with miniatures, especially dollhouses. I volunteer at the miniature museum in Denver once a month and would be happy to show you around.
Our best to all – Mary Ann
