Notes Then Now
My life seems to have evolved in 7 year stretches, give or take a year or two. It didn’t take me 7 years to graduate…it just felt like it…as my Dad wanted me to grow up to be a secretary (preferably for Conoco) and my interests were golf, counseling, sports, and teaching. After graduating, I taught physical education at a junior high school in Denver, Colorado—for 7 years.
Then I married and moved to Wyoming and after 7 years of misery came to my sense and divorced him.
Next came Ponca City and managing a travel agency. Then Real Estate for 7 years. Next my sister and I owned a Diet Center franchise—highly successful. After my mother passed away in 1988 I entered a new phase of being a fraternity and sorority housemother. I was at the Phi Gam house for 8 years, then moved to Dallas and switched to the Chi Omegas at SMU. I retired after twelve years as behaviors began to change—and not for the better. The “sisters” now hardly talk to each other, don’t want to eat together, and mostly sit in the den and text!
I now live in Port Aransas, Texas, on the ship channel. If you travel toward Corpus Christi, come on out and enjoy my patio and crow’s nest: it’s 904 Station Street in Port Aransas. This is a wonderful laid-back area with bars, beaches, informal get togethers, fireplaces on the beach, full moons, and the ever constant ship traffic. Martha Pulley was here last October and my grand-niece Carlie commented, “I never met anyone who had a friend for 50 years!”
It’s good to be back in contact. Note my e-mail has changed and I’d love to share memories: sudielsr@gmail.com
