| I married George Schaefer 50 years ago
and he is an architect, first in private practice and then as a civilian with the
Air Force. We lived in Athens, Greece for a year, and Japan for two different
five year stints. Our children are Susan and Edward and we have 4 grandkids.
Over the years I worked in publishing and as an advertising artist with the
Omaha World Herald. Now we are happily (!) retired and busy with travels,
home projects, and gardening. Our most challenging life event has been a rare genetic disease which has struck our granddaughter, Sarah. Juvenile Batten Disease (BDSRA.com) hit our smart, funny, normal 8 year old granddaughter and now, at 16, she is blind, unable to walk and losing cognitive abilities. It is both frightful and agonizing not be able to help your kids and grandkids. In addition, our son-in-law died of cancer 3 years ago, so daughter Susan is left to cope with all this. We are able to help a bit as Susan and her four children live nearby in Bellevue. Please keep our family on your prayer list. Our best travels (so far) have been to China, England, Scotland and Wales. I LOVE cruises and have been through a rogue wave. It is a good time in our life and I’d love to hear from my fellow “mature” sisters – it’s fun to think of how much the ‘olden’ times and people have influenced us all. |
